Norfolk Community Healthy and Care NHS Trust (NCHC) last night celebrated a national win at the annual Fleet Heroes Awards

Local NHS Trust, NCHC, last night won the national Smarter Travel Award from the Energy Saving Trust, in their annual Fleet Heroes Awards. The Energy Saving Trust shortlisted 28 fleets, organisations and suppliers nationally for the Fleet Hero Awards 2017 . Now in its 12th year, the awards showcase organisations, suppliers and manufacturers that have successfully reduced fuel bills and lowered their emissions and carbon footprint through better transport policies and improved fleet efficiency.

The other finalists for the Smarter Travel Award were Cumbria County Council and HMRC, but Norfolk Community Health & Care NHS Trust were the winners on the night for the NCHC team's smart use of pool cars, driver and vehicle checks and fleet management work.

The winners were announced on the evening of November 9 at the Museum of London Docklands where attendees had the opportunity to network with government representatives, fleet decision makers, vehicle manufacturers and suppliers. During the afternoon delegates also had the opportunity to attend the Fleet Hero Conference which brings together expert speakers from the Department for Transport, Emissions Analytics, Highways England, Nottingham City Council, University of Leeds and Z-Tech Control Systems to discuss the joint challenges of tackling air quality and carbon emissions.

Roisin Fallon-Williams, CEO of NCHC, said, “On a night when we were already celebrating the achievements of our staff in the Norfolk and Suffolk areas that we serve, at our REACH awards, we couldn’t have been more proud to hear that one of our teams has also been recognised nationally at the annual Fleet Heroes Awards, where they won the Smarter Travel Award!

"We are thrilled and it is a genuine reflection of the level at which our staff are performing, setting national and local standards and always reaching for the best in healthcare.”
