At our Trust's Annual General Meeting, held on September 24, people heard from our leaders about our success during 2012/13 and the challenges we faced.

Also held on September 24 was our Healthier Fair, which gave members of the public the opportunity to look around a number of interactive stalls and speak to the people who dedicate their careers to caring for local people.

Seats to be hotly contested in NHS Trust’s first Governor Elections

A number of nominees have come forward to stand in Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust’s (NCH&C) first ever governor elections, with each of the eight public and four staff constituencies set to be hotly contested. Read more

Volunteers top off hospital refurbishment with new patient garden

Patients in Norfolk can now access specialist rehabilitation and palliative care from improved healthcare units, following the completion of a significant refurbishment project. And, to top it all off, a team of volunteers has moved in to create a rehabilitation garden for patients too.

The Colman Hospital, on Unthank Road, in Norwich, recently underwent the refurbishment, which saw the specialist rehabilitation units on the site overhauled. Staff at Colman Hospital provide care to patients with neurological conditions, those who have had an amputation, and people requiring specialist palliative care services. Patients in Norfolk with a chronic, debilitating condition will soon have access to further improved support thanks to an investment into an important local service, it has been announced during Lymphoedema Awareness Week (September 16-23).

Even more patients with lymphoedema, both as a primary or secondary condition, will soon have access to support from even more staff from Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust’s (NCH&C) Lymphoedema Nursing Service. Read More

Patients in Ethiopia to benefit from Norfolk palliative care expertise

Two Norfolk health professionals are set to embark on the challenge of a lifetime when they travel to Ethiopia to share their knowledge and skills with the country’s palliative care patients and medical staff.

Sue Mumford, a Community Specialist Palliative Care Nurse based at Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust’s (NCH&C) Priscilla Bacon Centre, in Norwich, will travel to Africa at the end of this month for a ten week stay. Read More

Trust’s new non-executive director appointed

A non-executive director at Norfolk’s community-based NHS Trust is set to retire at the end of this month, with an experienced accountant now confirmed as his successor.

James Ross, who has served in his role at Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust (NCH&C) for over four years, will retire on September 30. The NHS Trust Development Authority has now agreed the appointment of Derek Allwood to the role from October 1, 2013 to September 30, 2015. Read More

Enhanced support for sex workers who are sexually assaulted

A dedicated team in Norfolk has been put in place to offer support to sex workers who have been raped or sexually assaulted.

The Matrix Sexual Assault Service aims to help sex workers across Norfolk to report incidents to the police, to access the local Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), and to provide aftercare and support which meets their particular needs. Read More

New term gets off to a Sure Start

Exciting activity days held at three children’s centres in north Norfolk have been hailed as a great success after hundreds of families came along to have fun and find out about the support on offer to them.

Parents from nearby towns and villages brought their young children to the Sure Start Children’s Centres in North Walsham, Mundesley and Cromer, to take part in the fun day which was held last Friday (August 30). Extra help for parents as new baby café launches

New mums and mums-to-be who are thinking about breastfeeding their babies will be able to get expert information, support and advice when a new baby café opens in Diss.

The café will be run by Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust (NCH&C) in partnership with Diss Children’s Centre and the Baby Café charity, which coordinates a network of breastfeeding drop-ins across the country. It will welcome its first parents in the Waveney Room at Corn Hall in St Nicholas Street on Monday, September 9 and will run each week from 1pm to 2.30pm. Read More
