Dermatology Clinical Assessment and Treatments Service (CATS)
The Dermatology Clinical Assessment and Treatment Service provides the population of central Norfolk with a service to assess and refer, or assess and treat patients with dermatological conditions referred from general practice. The types of conditions which can be referred to the service include:
- Mild to moderate psoriasis
- Mild to moderate eczema/dermatitis
- Urticaria
- Vitiligo
- Chloasma
- Skin Infections – bacterial, fungal, viral
- Acne not needing treatment with Roaccutane
- Rosacea
- Scalp/Hair Disorders (alopecia areata)
- Inflammatory Dermatosis
- Precancerous – SCC in situ/Bowen’s, benign lesions and actinic keratoses
- Low risk BCC only if clinician is a listed community skin cancer clinician with a named MDT
The service aims to provide:
- Rapid assessment and treatment of the patients’ condition
- Referral to secondary care only when necessary
- Programmes in place to allow patients to self-manage their condition
- Reduced waiting and travel time for patients
