Child Health Administration Team

This service offers administrative and clerical support for the paediatric medical team (Paediatricians, School Nursing, Specialist Nurses, Orthoptists (west only), Health Visitors) arranging appointments and clinics as appropriate. They also carry out the task of notifying of new births, deaths and movements in and out of area.

The service maintains an up to date register of all children from birth to school leaving age on a Child Health System, including the recording of all relevant results from immunisations and screening and data. We request and transfer paper and electronic Child Health Records internally and externally, in conjunction with associated manual/electronic record filing systems. We also coordinate the storage and retention of school leaving records until the age of 25 years.

The service monitors and collates information for the 1996 Education Act statementing procedure coordinating the health professionals’ contribution and submitting to Norfolk Children’s Services Education department within required timescales.

The service supports GP practices by way of scheduling appointments and recording immunisations. We also provide support during national immunisation campaigns including providing GPs with details of patients to whom immunisations have been given at school (e.g. HPV and ad hoc immunisations). We also support the Health Protection Agency in reminding and ensuring children identified as being at risk receive their Hepatitis B immunisation course. The service records blood spot screening results in line with national targets, and follows up missing results. The service also inputs data from the annual National Childhood Measurement Programme (NCMP) into child health system and provides the data for the Department of Health.

Finally, we provide Norfolk Children’s Services Education / Information & Research departments with data for admissions, Children’s Centres and the Joint Disability Register. We provide District Registrars with details of new births in the area.
