Speak Out Safely

Our Trust supports the Nursing Times Speak Out Safely campaign. This means we want every member of our staff to feel able to raise concerns about wrongdoing or poor practice when they see it and confident that their concerns will be addressed in a constructive way.

We promise that where staff identify a genuine patient safety concern, we will support them, fully investigate and, if appropriate, act on their concern. We will also give them feedback about how we have responded to the issue they have raised, as soon as possible.

Whether you are a permanent employee, an agency or temporary staff member, or a volunteer, please speak up when you feel something is wrong. We want you to be able to Speak Out Safely. Read our pledge below.

Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust pledge

NCH&C has pledged our commitment to the Speaking Out Safely Campaign led by the Nursing Times.

Our Trust’s vision is to improve the quality of people’s lives in their homes and communities by providing the best in integrated health and social care. The Trust is committed to achieving the highest possible standards of service and the highest ethical standards in public life and in all of its practices. We encourage our staff to raise concerns about malpractice or other public concerns at an early stage.

Quality is at the heart of everything that we seek to do. Providing continuity of care for our patients in their own homes and supporting their families is the unique role of a community trust. This requires expertise in managing dispersed rural services underpinned by robust governance systems.

We believe that signing up to the Speak Out Safely Campaign will further support our staff, our patients, and the public in continuing to raise issues and concerns that they may have. In enabling this to happen, we believe we can better deliver the best quality of care and we can continue to learn and improve our services.

Our Trust pledges to support our staff in raising concerns in good faith. Futhermore, our Board would like to assure all of our staff that it is safe and acceptable to speak up and to raise any concern under the NHS Constitution, at an early stage and in the right way, rather than wait for proof.
