Recruitment process
At NCH&C, we're committed to creating a modern and inclusive work environment.
As part of this commitment, we actively promote flexible working opportunities wherever possible, helping our workforce maintain and improve their wellbeing.
We offer a range of flexible working patterns, and we encourage you to discuss these with the recruiting manager before or during the application process if you're interested.
We welcome applications from people who share our values and can help us deliver outstanding care in our local community.
Preparing for the recruitment process
Things to consider before you apply
Sponsorships
Norfolk Community Health & Care NHS Trust is a diverse employer and welcomes all job applications. While we are registered with the Home Office as a sponsor organisation for migrant workers, sponsorship can only be offered for Skilled Worker visas.
If you're applying from outside the UK and do not already hold the right to work, please check the Home Office eligibility requirements before applying.
Please note: Some vacancies include filtering questions based on sponsorship criteria. Ensure all questions are answered accurately to avoid disappointment, as applications that cannot be sponsored will be withdrawn before shortlisting.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
We support the use of AI to assist with applications. However, we reserve the right to reject applications if AI is used:
- Misleadingly - implying experience or understanding you do not possess
- Excessively - answering full or multiple questions using AI
- Unfairly - using automated bots to apply for multiple roles
Your application
Applications must be submitted via Trac, our applicant tracking system. Once registered, your details will be saved for future applications, but you should always update your information and tailor your supporting statement for each role.
Tips for completing your application:
- Include all previous employment with accurate dates and a brief description of your responsibilities
- List all relevant qualifications, including any you're currently studying
- Double-check referee email addresses (we can't accept personal emails unless it's a character reference)
- Make sure your referees are aware they may be contacted
- Be explicit in your supporting statement - we shortlist based only on what is written
- Explain why you're interested in the role and how your experience and skills match the person specification
Important: Trac emails may go to your junk folder - check regularly throughout the process.
If you're applying for a clinical role, request a list of your vaccinations from your GP in advance. You may need this more than once during the recruitment process.
We also offer a 'recommend a friend' referral scheme. If someone at NCH&C shares a job advert with you and you're successfully recruited, you'll both receive £150. This applies to one application per year.
Preparing for interview
- Log into Trac to check your application status and accept interview invites
- Bring ID to your interview - check accepted documents here
- Prepare notes with real-life examples to use in your interview - it's not a memory test, and notes are welcome
- Interviews are competency-based, focusing on how you've demonstrated key skills or behaviours
- You have the right to ask for reasonable adjustments at any point during the recruitment process. Read our Applicant's guide to reasonable adjustment in Recruitment to find out more.
Conditional offer
Once offered a role:
- Contact your referees to let them know the HR team will be in touch
- Provide references covering the last three years (unless you're joining from another NHS organisation)
- Signed documents can be returned by email or post. If you can't provide a wet signature, email confirmation is acceptable
- If you didn't provide ID at interview, arrange a further ID check with your recruiting manager (details in your offer letter)
- When emailing HR, include the job reference number and title
- You can check the status of your pre-employment checks via the Trac candidate area
- If you're applying for a patient-facing role, complete your Occupational Health form within 5 days of receiving the link
Important:
Don't hand in your notice until all pre-employment checks are complete - this helps avoid a gap between roles.
