About our staff awards

Our staff awards, known as the REACH Awards, stand for Recognition of Excellence and Achievement in Community Healthcare. The awards are a great opportunity to come together and celebrate the wonderful work of individuals and teams across the trust.

As part of our award ceremony, we are invite the public to submit nominations for two categories: Patient Choice Award and Volunteer of the Year Award.

Find full details below. If you have any questions, please contact StaffEngagement@nchc.nhs.uk

Patient Choice Award

This award gives patients, families, and carers the chance to nominate an individual or team who has provided outstanding care or support, often going the extra mile to ensure patients have a positive experience with our service.

Our dedicated teams deliver NHS community and inpatient services across the county every single day. We think they all deserve to be recognised for their hard work, but we know there are many who go beyond the call of duty for the people who need them.

Patients, families, and carers can nominate any member of staff for this award. It could be following care during an outpatient appointment, community visit, or a longer hospital stay.

This award is kindly sponsored by the NCH&C Charitable Fund.

This award is open to anyone who works for NCH&C in an unpaid capacity, and all members of the public and NCH&C staff are invited to submit a nomination.

Merit logo

We are delighted that the event sponsors for this year's REACH Awards is Merit.

Merit is the UK's leading industrialised construction and digital manufacturing specialist, delivering high-quality, technically complex facilities for the healthcare, life sciences, education, semiconductor and battery tech sectors.

In January 2024, Merit was appointed by NCH&C to design and deliver our new therapy-led rehabilitation unit on site at Norwich Community Hospital. This 48-bed modular ward plays a crucial role in easing pressure on local acute hospitals, providing a smoother transition for patients and ensuring they receive the focused care they need in a supportive environment. The new state-of-the-art facility opened to patients in March 2025.

Tony Wells, CEO at Merit, commented:  We are incredibly proud to have worked with NCH&C in delivering the Willow Therapy Unit and to have seen first-hand the amazing work NCH&C staff carry out in the community.

Sponsoring the REACH Awards is an ideal opportunity for Merit to show its appreciation for the hardworking and dedicated healthcare professionals at NCH&C.

A huge thank you to Merit for being the event sponsor for our 2025 awards. We look forward to celebrating with our staff in September.
