Enhancing patient care

Charitable donations help staff in our hospitals and across the community to deliver healthcare that’s above and beyond what's possible with standard NHS funding. With your help, we can fund specialist equipment, training and innovative ideas that help patients to receive outstanding healthcare in enhanced environments.

Below are just some of the many ways you have supported patients and their families…

Creating dementia-friendly wards

A major redevelopment to older people’s wards is minimising disorientation for patients living with dementia and ensuring a more comforting space.

The difference we’re making

  • Refurbishing wards to create spaces more suited to the needs of people living with dementia. Five wards were transformed providing clearer signage, contrasting colours and decluttered walls to help patients navigate around wards easier, promoting independence.
  • Ensuring the needs of people living with dementia are integral to the design of clinical facilities and care - day rooms and social spaces have been created so patients can safely move around and aid recovery.
  • Supporting a programme of work to promote dementia-friendly environments and care across the hospitals we support.
  • Delivering Dementia Awareness training to Trust staff.

Staff development

By ensuring that staff have access to the latest training, development and emotional support, they can continue to provide the highest quality of care.

Thanks to your generous donations, hospital staff are able to expand their existing knowledge through specialist training, keep up to date with the latest medical advances and introduce new developments from across the world back into Norfolk to improve patient care. Find out more about how donations can support staff learning.

We also support many of NCH&C health and well-being initiatives across the trust.

Transforming patient and staff environments

We work collaboratively with NCH&C Trust colleagues to improve patient comfort and the overall healthcare experience, turning innovative and creative ideas into reality. By improving the hospital environment and creating a 'home from home' atmosphere, we make spaces more welcoming and comfortable to have a positive impact on patient and staff wellbeing.

We place patient needs at the centre, to create positive environments to receive care and recuperate in using generous donations to transform our hospital spaces - from renovated day rooms and therapeutic outdoor spaces to displays of artwork and photography from local artists.

Clinical equipment

The Charitable Fund helps provide specialist medical equipment that would otherwise be unavailable, ensuring that our patients have access to the best possible treatment.

We know how important it is that our medical teams have access to the latest technology to deliver the best possible care, that’s why we work together with NCH&C to ensure that local patients have access to the latest cutting-edge equipment.

In memory

Donating in memory of a loved one is a special way to honour them and help transform the lives of patients in our care.

Remembering a loved one through a memorial donation is a wonderful way to honour a special person during a difficult time. There are many ways you can make a meaningful and lasting tribute to their memory.

In memory donation envelopes: At a funeral or memorial event, you might like to hold a collection with friends and family. Please talk to your funeral director about making arrangements.

Make a one-off donation: To make a one-off donation in memory of a loved one, you can go to our donate page or download our donation form. There is space on both forms to tell us in whose memory you are donating.

Create a tribute page:

On a MuchLoved tribute page, friends and family can remember someone special together. Online tributes are a unique space for friends and family to share memories, thoughts and photos of their loved one and light virtual candles to mark anniversaries. Visitors can make donations in memory of your loved one to Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust Charitable Fund directly on the tribute page.

To create a page in memory of someone special, click here. It is straightforward and free to set-up and the page will remain open for as long as you want it to.

Legacy

A gift in your will is a special way to make a lasting difference for patients, families and hospital staff.

You might have personal experience of the hospitals or want to leave a legacy in memory of a loved one. Whatever the reason, you can be sure that your generosity will help future patients.

After you’ve taken care of your family, a gift to the NCH&C Charitable Fund will help hospital staff go above and beyond NHS funding.

Your gift might fund specific training for staff, or buy equipment that transforms patient care and as a result help us deliver amazing health care. A gift in your will could make it happen – please click here for more information about doing this.

If you are considering leaving a legacy to NCH&C, thank you for your generosity.

The Charitable Fund team operates to raise money, manage funds and approve funding requests from NCH&C NHS Trust. Our funding enables the provision of facilities, services and equipment over and above what’s possible with NHS core funding.

Our key purpose is to benefit the patients and families of the community that the trust serves.

Who we support

In between, our services cover caring for frail elderly housebound patients, providing care on inpatient units, including a regional and specialist rehabilitation centre, as well as supporting those with learning disabilities.

Staff work from multiple sites, and over a very large geographical area with multiple and diverse partner organisations.
