NCH&C Charitable Fund
What We Do
NCH&C Charitable Fund raises money to support patients, their families, carers, and the staff at Norfolk Community Health and Care (NCH&C) NHS Trust.
We use donations to provide equipment and services that are above and beyond those funded by the NHS and make a genuine difference to patients.
Donations are received from grateful patients and families of NCH&C NHS Trust and our community. Donations may be designated to a particular ward or service if requested, otherwise the funding is used wherever the need is greatest within the trust.
With your vital support we can continue to transform the hospitals that care for you and your loved ones.
Enhancing patient care
Charitable donations help staff in our hospitals and across the community to deliver healthcare that’s above and beyond what's possible with standard NHS funding. With your help, we fund ideas and projects that help patients receive brilliant healthcare.
The care delivered by the staff at NCH&C is already outstanding. Your support allows us to build on that care and enable staff to deliver an enhanced patient and family experience.
Below are just some of the many ways you have supported patients and their families…
Creating dementia-friendly wards
A major redevelopment to older people’s wards is minimising disorientation for patients living with dementia and ensuring a more comforting space.

The difference we’re making
- Refurbishing wards to create spaces more suited to the needs of people living with dementia - five wards were transformed with this project, with improvements including clearer signage, contrasting colours and decluttered walls, helping patients to navigate
- Ensuring the needs of people living with dementia are integral to the design of clinical facilities and care - day rooms and social spaces have been created so patients can move away from their beds, including dedicated reminiscence areas with pictures from local museums and retro objects on display
- Supporting a pioneering programme of work, promoting more dementia-friendly environments and care across the hospitals we support.
By ensuring that staff have access to the latest training, development and emotional support, they can continue to provide the highest quality of care.
Thanks to your generous donations, hospital staff are able to expand their existing knowledge through specialist training, keep up to date with the latest medical advances and introduce new developments from across the world back into Norfolk to improve patient care.
We also support many of NCH&C health and well-being initiatives across the trust.
Transforming patient and staff environments
We work with our trust colleagues to improve patient comfort and the overall experience for patients and staff, and help hospital staff turn their innovative ideas into reality.
With your help, we are able to transform hospital spaces into more welcoming, warm and comfortable environments for patients and their families.
From entire ward refurbishments and renovated day rooms to displays of artwork and photography from local artists, we work with the hospital's Arts In Health team, so that spaces are converted with patient needs in mind, into a relaxing place to stay, which feels more like home than a hospital.
The Charitable Fund helps provide specialist medical equipment that would otherwise be unavailable, ensuring that our patients have access to the best possible treatment.
We know how important it is that our medical teams have access to the latest technology to deliver the best possible care, that’s why we work together with NCH&C to ensure that local patients have access to the latest cutting-edge equipment.
Your support means we can fund more projects that make a real difference, from enhancing patient care to training our staff to do more.
There are many ways you can support NCH&C’s Charitable fund. Why not take on a fundraising challenge or make a one-off donation?
Don’t forget, if you are a UK taxpayer – we can claim 25% of your donation back from HMRC at no extra cost to you.

A gift in your will is a special way to make a lasting difference for patients, families and hospital staff.
You might have personal experience of the hospitals or want to leave a legacy in memory of a loved one. Whatever the reason, you can be sure that your generosity will help future patients.
After you’ve taken care of your family, a gift to the NCH&C Charitable Fund will help hospital staff go above and beyond NHS funding.
Your gift might fund specific training for staff, or buy equipment that transforms patient care and as a result help us deliver amazing health care. A gift in your will could make it happen.

NCH&C Charitable Fund has been in existence since 1995. It is one of 250 registered charities attached to an NHS Trust across England and we are regulated by both the Charity Commission and NHS legislation.
The Charitable Fund team operates to raise money, manage funds and approve funding requests from NCH&C NHS Trust. Our funding enables the provision of facilities, services and equipment over and above what’s possible with NHS core funding.
Our key purpose is to benefit the patients and families of the community that the trust serves.
Who we support
Our mission is to fund healthcare projects and initiatives that have the greatest potential to change lives. To achieve this, we proudly support the dedicated staff of the Norfolk Community Health and Care (NCH&C) NHS Trust.
As a community NHS trust, NCH&C provide a broad range of services from helping children and their families get off to the best possible start in life, all the way through to specialist end of life care.
In between, our services cover caring for frail elderly housebound patients, providing care on inpatient units, including a regional and specialist rehabilitation centre, as well as supporting those with learning disabilities.
Staff work from multiple sites, and over a very large geographical area with multiple and diverse partner organisations.
